Isn't She Lovely?

One of the quintessential signatures of the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations is the Catrina. She (or he) shows up in every shape and form -celebrating the afterlife of all kinds of citizens. Catrina is produced all over Mexico. Her bony knees and hollow rib cage have been translated to ceramic, wood, tin, and fabric. Here are some especially high quality ceramic and wood Catrinas, mostly from the epicenter of Day of the Dead Celebrations, the Mexican state of  Michoacan.

Thanks to Zocalo, for the Catrinas in the photos, you have the best! This evening
I am headed out to a shrine celebration in observance of the Day of the Dead, hopefully I'll get some pictures.
