I can't resist a good deal on a funky vintage serape. This one is from the 50's or 60's and is in pieces-- sounds like a pillow in the making.... it looks especially great in I-Phone retro photos.

The stripe sometimes looks purple, sometimes blue. Yet another realm of blue that I love!

Succulent Heaven

Last week came to a hectic end as I flew to Los Angeles on Thursday evening to spend the weekend with a friend who happens to be a client as well. She is planning a major remodel and needed some guidance. We hit a zillion tile stores, studied the plans and had some fun. Two blocks from my friends house is a home with a spectacular succulent garden.  It is truly a work of art--take a look.

I am so jealous of the mild California climate in which anything can be grown, especially the wide variety of these sculptural beauties.

Gems and Rocks and Minerals

I am headed off to a Super Bowl party but wanted to share a few pictures I took at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show this morning. Every year, during the first few weeks of February merchants and buyers come to Tucson from all over the world to show their collections and deal in minerals, rocks, gems, beads, jewelry and jewelry supplies. In the areas that are open to the public there are rugs, baskets, jewelry, decorative minerals and rocks, beads and all kinds of ethnic clothes. With a resale license and some other credentials you can gain entrance to many wholesale venues where you'll find exotic items to buy in bulk. The weather was beautiful and I felt as though I was walking  through a bazaar in a far away land. Take a look...

Lots of color, lots of inspiration at every turn.
